Design Services include the preparation, using CAD, of the drawings, specifications and documents required for the building, refitting, modifying or certification of any type of yacht, motor boat or workboat between 1.5m and 35m. Design work is fully supported by the appropriate calculations.  These might involve determining the stability, engine size, optimum propeller choice, sail area and balance, as well as the correct sizes and layout of the hull & deck construction details.  - List of Services

Surveying Services on any boat built from GRP, FRP, steel, aluminium, wood-epoxy or plywood include pre-purchase inspections, general condition surveys, damage assessment, osmosis checks, confirming compliance with regulations, establishing a valuation, surveys for insurance or to monitor the quality during the building process.  Prices start at £10 per foot of boat length.  A typical out-of-water condition survey with a 15-20 page illustrated report for a 25ft boat will cost around £275 plus travel expenses, with no VAT to pay. - More Information

Consulting Services include the search for solutions to all manner of technical problems relating to yachts and powercraft, from the diagnosis and cure of a severe vibration problem to overcoming difficulties in meeting the standards associated with the Recreational Craft Directive (RCD).  Stability assessments and the work required to produce a stability booklet to meet MCA Codes of Practice are regularly carried out.  Where there are no drawings available for an existing vessel, the hull measurements can be “taken-off” to produce a lines plan.  Inclining tests and full scale trials can be performed to ensure compliance with requirements. -  List of Services

Prices (from 1st January 2007) for these technical services are genuinely affordable, especially when compared with the hourly rate for servicing a car.  For small jobs (no job is too small) prices start at just £28.75 per hour plus travel expenses, with no VAT to pay.  Larger projects would normally be performed in conjunction with Associates (all qualified Chartered Engineers), or with the Southampton Solent University if tank testing facilities are required.  Prices for this type of work start at £40 per hour, plus VAT charged on the cost of hiring the facilities.  A quotation for cost and time will be prepared for any potential client wishing to discuss a project involving design, surveying or consultancy on any yacht or powerboat between 1.5m (5’) and 40m (130’) in length. Documentation Services are charged at the rate of just £10 per hour with no VAT to pay - a real bargain!  This work might involve formatting and plotting out colour line drawings at A0 or A1 size, designing pages for web-sites, preparing music scores, proof reading, writing articles, editing draft manuscripts, preparing a curriculum vitae, or just producing clear typed copies of notes and reports. Typically a 5-page starter web-site to promote your business, service or interests, would cost just £99.  A piece of music of around 100 bars in length would cost around £15 to transcribe from hand written manuscript into a clear, crisp, printed music part. - List of Services
