Naval Architect - Yacht Designer
YACHT & POWERCRAFT DESIGN SERVICES

If you are thinking of buying a yacht or power boat, perhaps as a first-time buyer, then whatever type of boat it is you have in mind, some technical assistance may be valuable to ensure that your purchase is trouble free and within budget.
Firstly it may be useful to discuss the potential boat and its design with a naval architect who will be able to advise on the expected performance, advantages, disadvantages and possible pitfalls in owning a boat of that type and age.
Then a list of suitable boats that are currently on the market can be prepared and put in order of preference for initial inspection.
When the best boat available has been selected and an offer made for the boat, a full condition survey can be carried out to discover whether there are any defects. This will include a valuation of the vessel in its present location and condition. This can be used for both the purchase negotiations and for obtaining insurance.
Estimates of cost and time will then be obtained from experienced boat builders for the rectification of any defects and these figures may be used to make a revised offer to the vendor.
With a sale price agreed that reflects the need to correct any defects, a boatyard can be commissioned to carry out the rectification work, which can be supervised by the naval architect on a regular basis if required.
Finally when the new boat is ready to be launched and handed over I can arrange delivery by sea with an experienced yachtmaster and also provide training afloat for the new owners in their own boat.
So if you are buying a boat, just relax, expert and impartial help is available at every stage.
