We are pleased to have been invited by stability expert Andrew Blyth to design and build a stability demonstration model and a portable “test tank” for illustrating the principles of small craft stability.  The model can show a number of effects, such as trimming and heeling from the distribution of loads on the deck, the effect of  loose water running across the deck and also how stability is affected when cargo is lifted from the hold and craned ashore with the derrick.

A DVD of the model in action, being used to demonstrate 10 key aspects of small craft stability is currently being produced and will be available soon.  The DVD has a full spoken explanation of each of the effects and can be used by boatbuilders, sailing clubs, schools, class associations and other organisations to raise awareness of the stability issues involved in operating a small craft on the sea or inland waterways - whether for recreational or for commercial use.
