The initial design, intact & damage stability plus regulatory aspects were handled for Gloriana.
Calypso is my tribute design of 2008 inspired by Joshua Slocum’s famous “Spray” of 1895.
I am  well-placed to advise on the various regulations applying to yachts & power craft.
Stability can be assessed for intact and damaged conditions - usually for a stability booklet.
I designed the epoxy-ply 25ft gaff cutter Skep for home building by a retired airline pilot.
The 19.19m steel MV Hawk, built in 1935, has been converted for cruising European waterways.
Work on SV Kaskelot included supervision of ballasting & producing the stability booklet.
Thank you for visiting my web site.  I am an independent Naval Architect and Yacht Designer, based at Warsash by the River Hamble, close to the famous Solent yachting centres.

With over 45 years experience of designing sailing and power boats, backed by extensive academic and professional qualifications, I can offer a wide range of design, consultancy and technical services for custom new-build projects, production boats and vessel conversions, all at competitive prices.

Whether for oar, sail or power propulsion, boats from 1.5m to 35m can be designed with high quality CAD work, supported by computer analysis for performance prediction, strength, intact and damage stability.

I also specialise in providing technical advice on stability requirements including the production of CAD models and full stability booklets for MCA under 24m Codes, as well as stability assessments for RCD compliance. Project support is offered for restorations, experimental designs, replicas and historic ships of any size.
